Police arrest wanted bandits’ informant and 11 others in Abuja


 

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a wanted logistic supplier and informant to a kidnapping and banditry group terrorizing the FCT and its environs.A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said the suspect was arrested by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Command at the Mongoro Forest.

The PPRO stated that the suspect, who has been on the wanted list of the Command, is being held over his alleged involvement in supplying firearms, ammunition and other weapons; food items and illicit drugs to the criminals in their various hideouts in the forests using a motorcycle.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspect include one AK47 rifle, AK47 ammunition, one mobile phone, foodstuffs and an unregistered boxer Motorcycle.

  The lecturers of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State have commenced an industrial action to protest against non-payment of their 13 months’ salary. In a communiquΓ© issued at the end of the congress by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, RUGIPO chapter on Thursday, the lecturers vowed not to participate in the first semester examinations of the school, coming up next Tuesday, unless the government wade into the matter. Former Imo Speaker’s security officer found dead weeks after being kidnapped

  The lifeless body of an orderly to a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chiji Collins, has been found in a bush. The victim’s lifeless boy identified simply as Charles, was found in the Oguta Local Government Area of the state a few days ago. Charles, who was said to be a dedicated police inspector, was abducted several weeks ago along with a driver in the Ohaji/Egbema area of the state.
